The Taraba State House of Assembly has approved a supplementary budget of over N128 billion for the 2025 fiscal year.
The approval came on Wednesday after the first and second readings of the appropriation bill presented by Governor Agbu Kefas.
Lawmakers said the additional funds will be drawn from the state’s Consolidated Revenue Fund to cover priority projects not included in the original budget.
Governor Kefas explained that the supplementary allocation will focus on agriculture, healthcare, and security. He also revealed that the State Executive Council had endorsed an extra N14 billion in financial requirements.
Majority Leader Jethro Yakubu Zikengyu moved the motion that advanced the bill to second reading, which was adopted by the House.
Speaker John Kizito Bonzena later referred the bill to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation for detailed review.
In a separate development, the Taraba State Emblem Establishment Bill scaled its first reading and was forwarded to the Rules and Business Committee for consideration.
