Naira Strengthens Further Against Dollar at Official Market

Date:

The naira continued its upward trend against the United States dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Tuesday.

Data from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) showed that the naira appreciated to N1,463.45 per dollar, up from N1,465.29 recorded on Monday. This represents a daily gain of N1.84 at the official FX market.

Meanwhile, the currency remained stable at the parallel market, trading flat at N1,500 per dollar, the same rate as on Monday.

The appreciation coincides with a slight increase in Nigeria’s external reserves, which rose to $42.79 billion as of October 20, 2025, up from $42.69 billion recorded on October 17, according to CBN data.

The naira had started the week with a notable gain at the official market on Monday, continuing a trend of gradual strengthening against the dollar.
