The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has reminded employers that the deadline for submitting annual tax returns for the 2025 financial year is January 31, 2026.
In a statement, LIRS Executive Chairman Dr Ayodele Subair said the directive aligns with the provisions of the Nigeria Tax Administration Act 2025. He urged employers to fully disclose all employee emoluments and ensure that all applicable taxes are properly remitted.
Dr Subair warned that failure to comply with the filing requirement would attract statutory penalties, emphasizing that tax submission is mandatory, not voluntary.
He further noted that all returns must be filed electronically via the LIRS eTax platform, adding that manual submissions will no longer be accepted.
Employers were advised to file early, verify the accuracy of employees’ Tax Identification Numbers (TINs), and seek assistance through official LIRS channels when needed.
