The 2026 edition of the African Iconic Women Recognition Awards (AIWRA) is set to hold in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, where prominent women across Africa will be honoured for their achievements and contributions to society. The event recognises women who have broken barriers and made significant impact in leadership, entrepreneurship, public service, innovation and advocacy.

Organised by Fajag Concept, owners of Face of Democracy Nigeria, the awards aim to celebrate exceptional women whose work has advanced development and inspired change across the continent.

This year’s edition, themed “Elevate at 15th,” will mark the 15th anniversary of the awards and is expected to attract policymakers, entrepreneurs, development advocates and other distinguished personalities from across Africa to discuss leadership, inclusion and the role of women in Africa’s development.

Among the notable awardees listed for the 2026 ceremony are Oluremi Tinubu, First Lady of Nigeria; Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, President of Namibia; Lordina Mahama, First Lady of Ghana; and Denise Nyakeru Tshisekedi, First Lady of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

According to the founder and chairman of Fajag Concept, Olufunsho Alexander Olumuyiwa Ajagbonna, the initiative aims to amplify inspiring stories of resilience and innovation while encouraging younger women to take up leadership roles. He also praised Transcorp Hilton Abuja for its continued partnership in hosting and supporting the event.
