The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Thursday raided some motor parks in Anambra State and arrested no fewer than 35 alleged drug suspects.

The agency carried out the raid in a joint operation with soldiers, police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Prisons Service and Nigeria Immigration Service.

The area raided included Nnewi, Ihiala, Aba, Obosi, Okija, Okpoko, Owerri, Lagos and Benin parks in the state.

Substances suspected to be cannabis sativa, cocaine and heroin were recovered from suspects.

The NDLEA State Commander, Mr. Sule Momodu, said the raid would be a continuous exercise to ensure the state was free of illicit drugs, especially in the parks.

He commended the Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano, for giving them the needed logistics to do the work.

Momodu said those arrested would be screened to determine their culpability in the crime before taking them to court.

The Commander advised parents to always monitor the activities of their children so as to know when they had gone astray.
He said that the agency would prosecute drug peddlers and abusers in the state to letter
