Fact have emerged on the geopolitical zone to produce the next president of Nigeria come 2023.

This was revealed by the former chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti state, Mr. Jide Awe.

He disclosed that the southwest region is destined to produce the next president of the country, ROYAL NEWS reports.

The party chieftain speaking in a programme on a private radio station, Voice 89.9 FM, on Saturday, January 18, faulted comments by Miyetti Allah that the southwest region may fail to produce the next president in 2023 because of the inauguration of Amotekun security initiative, The Nation reports.

Awe said the southwest region will occupy the next presidency going by the silent principle of rotation, adding that the formation of Amotekun had nothing to do with politics.

“They said they won’t give us presidency in 2023 if the governors insist on protecting their people. Well, the position is not being allocated by the group saying that” he said.

“Again, let them know that the Yorubas are destined for presidency in 2023, because we have paid our dues as far as the APC is concerned.”

He commended the southwest governors for inaugurating the security operation while criticising the claim by the federal government that Amotekun was illegal.

Awe said: “People were being kidnapped, robbed , killed and traumatised on daily basis and the FG did nothing. Do they want our governors to watch as their people were being killed?”
