NAHCON condoles with Muslim faithful over death of Idoko

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has commiserated with the family, friends and Nigerian Muslims over the demise of Sheikh Adam Idoko, who died on Wednesday, in Abuja.

Mrs Fatima Usara, NAHCON Head, Public Affairs, in a statement on Thursday in Abuja, described the death of Idoko as a big loss to the Muslim ummah in the country.

Usara said that Idoko, during his lifetime was a patron of Holy Pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia and a champion of the Muslim Community in the South East.

She said that the deceased would be missed as a patron of many community service groups who excelled in empowering his people.

Usara said that the Hajj and Umrah communities and indeed the entire Muslim faithful would feel the vacuum created by the loss of the vibrant, vastly experienced Islamic cleric.

“NAHCON joins the world in praying for gentle repose of his soul in Al Jannatul Firdaus,” she said

ROYAL NEWS, reports that Idoko was one time Executive Secretary, Enugu State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, as well Commissioner representing South East on NAHCON board NAHCON from 2007 to 2014.

Idoko has a bachelor of arts degree in Shari’ah from the Islamic University, Madinah and was a fluent Arabic speaker.

He played several roles in the Muslim community; a Chief Imam of Central Mosque, University of Nigeria Nsukka, a one time Deputy National Secretary (South), Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs and member, Nigerian Moon Sighting Committee.

The deceased was also a member, Board of Trustees, Jamaatu Nasril Islam, National Da’awaah, Coordination Council of Nigeria, Jaiz Charity and Development Foundation, Nigerian office of International Islamic Relief Organisation and International Islamic Charitable Organisation.
