Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has backed Arsenal to win the Premier League title despite their 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley. Nico O’Reilly scored twice to secure City’s first trophy of the season.
The Carabao Cup outcome has sparked discussions that Manchester City may gain a psychological boost in the Premier League title race. Some pundits suggested that City’s victory could shift momentum in their favor.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Carragher emphasized that Arsenal maintain a strong advantage in the league, sitting nine points clear at the top. He stressed that the league standings give the Gunners a significant cushion over their rivals.
Carragher noted that while a loss to City could tighten the race, the gap is still substantial enough for Arsenal to retain the upper hand. He highlighted that only a much narrower margin would make the title race more unpredictable.
The former Liverpool defender concluded that Arsenal have been the best-performing team this season, losing just four games in all competitions. Carragher urged fans and pundits not to overreact to the cup defeat, emphasizing the Gunners’ consistency over the campaign.
