Crayon Claims Personal Loss, Criticises Mavin Records

Date:

Nigerian singer Crayon has sparked controversy after publicly criticising his record label, Blowtime Entertainment, an imprint of Mavin Records, on social media. The posts, shared on his X account, included strong language directed at the label’s management and founder, Don Jazzy.

In one post, Crayon appeared to mock Don Jazzy, writing, “Don Jazzy na my boy!!!!!! Una dey maddddd!!?? Shayennnnn sharayyyyyy333,” while also targeting the label’s Chief Operating Officer, Tega Oghenejobo, whom he referred to as a “highest criminal.” The singer further claimed that he lost his mother because of the label, though he provided no further details.

Crayon’s posts, including the statement “Mavin is going down!!!!!!,” have prompted widespread online reactions, with fans and industry watchers speculating about his future with the label. Despite the intensity of his posts, it is unclear whether his social media accounts have been compromised. His Instagram activity remains normal, with no indication of hacking.

Adding to the speculation, Crayon recently shared information about a possible new venture, Olodum Entertainment, on his Instagram page, including a new booking email address. This has fueled rumours that the singer may be preparing to leave Mavin Records, though neither he nor the label has confirmed any separation.

Crayon joined Blowtime Entertainment, a subsidiary of Mavin Records, in May 2019 and has released several songs under the label since signing. The unfolding situation has drawn significant attention, as industry observers await clarity on whether the singer will continue his association with the prominent Nigerian record label.
