Fido Issues Public Apology to Nigerians Over Recent Controversy

Date:

Nigerian singer Fido, popularly known for his hit “Joy Is Coming,” has publicly apologised to Nigerians, his fans, and the global Afrobeats community for past mistakes. In a heartfelt post on X, he admitted that rapid stardom led him to make errors influenced by ego, excitement, and inexperience, and expressed regret for any offense caused by his words or actions.

Fido specifically apologised to his senior colleague Davido and Davido’s 30BG fanbase, whom he affectionately referred to as “Osakpolo FC.” He acknowledged that some of his statements and decisions were inappropriate and did not reflect the person he aspires to be.

He also addressed the wider Afrobeats community, including legends and predecessors, apologising to anyone disappointed by his conduct. Fido emphasised that taking responsibility is a sign of maturity and strength, marking a turning point in his personal and professional growth.

Reflecting on his journey, the 27-year-old singer said he chose humility over pride, stepping back to listen, reflect, and learn from his experiences. He stressed that acknowledging mistakes requires both courage and self-awareness, and he is committed to evolving into a more grounded and respectful artist.

Fido assured fans that his upcoming music will reflect this personal growth, promising a more honest, grateful, and heartfelt approach. He said the lessons learned from this period will guide him as he enters the next chapter of his career, delivering music from a deeper and more authentic place.
