Christians worshipers from 71 churches across Kaduna State have ended a 7 days Universal Week of Prayers, praying for peace for Nigerians in hardships, the entire country and Kaduna state I particular.
The denominational church service and prayers held at the Cathedral of St. Michael of Nigeria, kaduna, was organised by Christians, under the auspices of Bible Society of Nigeria, BSN, kaduna Principal Auxiliary, and Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Kaduna central zone.
Speaking to journalists at the end of the prayers yesterday, retired Col. Dr. Tunji Adegboye of Night of John Westley Methodist Church, and chairman of BSN, Kaduna principal auxiliary, said Christians within the Central Area of Kaduna State came together under the auspices of BSN, kaduna principal auxiliary and organised the universal week of prayers for peace every years.
Dr. Tunji Adegboye said in every first full week of the year, Christians comes together and assembled from Monday to Sunday to pray for the country in general and their state of their residence in particular, adding that the theme of 2020 was titled “And they Showed Us Hospitality”.
According to him, Christians are asking God in this year 2020, to command even those who did not know them, whoever they are, to show them hospitality.
“They’ll think of us and unexpectedly they’ll show us kindness. That’s what we’re wishing Nigerians”, he stated, stressing the 2020 week was unique because of the challenges of insecurity, economics and others.
The retired Col. said they prayed for Nigerians that “God will look from above and see them and speaks peace from there to them whatever they may be going through in the country”, stressing that only when a person has rest of mind that they can pursued his business.
He however lamented that Christians are the worse hit of the challenges the country is facing, sighting the Christian girl, Leah Sharibu held by Boko Haram, some Chibok girls and the four seminarians kidnapped by bandits in kaduna recently.
The 7days prayers, according to Adegboye, was rounded up with the prayers for economic hardships, security and other challenges.
Also speaking, CAN Chairman kaduna central zone, Apostle Charles Smith, his counterparts in kaduna North Elijah Abu D, and the chairman planning committee of the zone Pastor, Adeyemi Isaac collectively stated that the universal week of prayers had been in existence for over 20-30 years through the grace of God.
They said the one week actives and prayers was unique because of the challenges the body of Christ has been facing in the past few years, which is necessitated by the number of people in attendance in prayer.
They also expressed excitement that the event cut across all the states, country and world at large, urging Christians not be courageous and not be afraid, in the face all the challenges.
Accordingly, the clergymen stated that the prayers also cut across ethnicity and religious as it put everybody in the country into the hand of God for protection and the grace of the almighty father.
