Leadership of the Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA) on Sunday urged the Commissioner of Police in Kwara State , CP Aminu Saleh Pai, to urgently order the arrest of one Abdulraheem Aduanigba and prosecute him.
IEYDA further disclosed that the prosecution will be in continuation of his earlier case before the Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin in order to serve as a deterrent to others, ROYAL NEWS reports.
The National President of the group, Alhaji Abdullahi Salaudeen stated this while addressing journalists shortly after the 52nd National Congress held in Ilorin.
According to him, “The National Executive Council of the Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association, (IEYDA)  today held its 52nd National Congress to further intensify the need for the realization of the numerous agendas of the association.
“Salient issues of concern was adequately discussed ranging from security, youth employment/empowerment, cultural/moral issues as well as the forthcoming Ramadan fasting among others.
“However, at the front burner, issues concerning one Abdulraheem Aduanigba  who claimed to be the Chief Imam of Yoruba thereby constituting nuisance to the general public.”
While readimg the resolutions of the group, IEYDA’s helmsman said: “It is an act of cowardness for anyone to lay claim of the existence of any mosque called Yoruba mosque in Ilorin. We see Aduranigba’s claims as falsehood, mischievous, misleading and outrightly condemnable.
” The advent of Sheikh Soliu Alimi witnessed the introduction and propagation of Islam among the Ilorin indigenes composed of ; Yorubas, Nupes, Kannikes, Barubas, Gobiris and Fulanis and they all embarced the religion.
“The current Ilorin Emirate is composed of Ilorin West, Ilorin East, Ilorin South , Asa and Moro local government areas and Islam remains the unifying factor and the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibarhim Sulu-Gambari CFR is the paramount ruler of the community. Therefore any attempt by anybody or group to in sell the idea of an “Oba” in place of the Emir is not only laughable but also unwarranted.”
The group further stressed that, “It is saddened that after nine years in Saudi Arabia, Aduanigba’s utterances are obvious signs that he is not well grounded in Arabic Language. His Arabic utterances in the video contain some unpardonable grammatical irregularities.
“That the culprits attempt to condemn some Islamic names as he claimed in the video and other social media is ungodly and a true reflection of his ill-health and act of waging war against Islamic jurisprudence/doctrine. That in Ilorin Emirate, there are three Imams namely; Imam Fulani, Imam Imale and Imam Gambari and the Emir of Ilorin has the reserved power to appoint and turban anybody as Imam anytime there is need for.
” Raining of abusive words/utterances on the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR and other stakeholders is inciting, undeserving, libelious and criminally inclined.”
The group therefore noted that, “We advise the culprit and his co-travellers/sponsors to desist from such dastard illicit acts or be ready to face the unforseen consequential repercussion because the Ilorin Youths will not relent in our efforts towards preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Ilorin Emirate.”
