Kwara CP promises improved security architecture

The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, CP Ebunoluwarotimi Adelesi, has said that the security architecture of the State would be strengthened to forestall recurrence of kidnappings and other crimes in the state.
CP Adelesi said this on Wednesday in Ilorin while playing host to the State Working Committee of the Kwara State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) led by its Chairman, Abdullateef Lanre Ahmed.
The CP expressed dismay with the spate of kidnappings in Isanlu-Isin axis of Kwara South and pledged that the command would comb the forest in the area to fish out the criminal elements.
She added that the command has undertaken intelligence gathering on possible ways to curb further kidnappings in the area, saying that the Tactical and Anti-kidnapping teams of the command had been deployed to the area.
CP Adelesi, however, sought the support of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in the provision of necessary information that would assist in mitigating crime rate in the state.
The Police boss said the Command’s hierarchy should be kept abreast of the activities of its personnel and happenings in the public, adding that officers and men of the force are expected to discharge their duties with utmost civility.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists in Kwara State, Abdullateef Lanre Ahmed, said the deployment of the CP Adelesi to the State is like breaking a jinx in the history of Police in Kwara State.
Ahmed noted that the leadership of the union came to familiarize and appreciate her efforts, particularly her recent yeoman’s job in rescuing victims of kidnapping in the state.
The NUJ Chairman therefore called on the police to step up the game in stemming the spate of kidnappings in the state, particularly in Kwara South.
While noting the upsurge in kidnapping in the state, the Council Chairman promised that the union would help in amplifying the Command’s activities a view to cementing the robust relationship between the Journalists and the Police.
Ahmed appreciated the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Ajayi Okasanmi, for ensuring cordial relationship with the media and the general public.
