Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has appointed Engr. Shehu Umar (MNSE) as the General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of the Kwara State Water Corporation.
Engineer Umar, who was acting GM of the corporation until May 2023, is reputed for his professional excellence, on-the-job experience, and personal discipline.
Until the appointment a director in the state civil service, Engineer Umar has rich experiences in the public and private sector, including as Project Manager, Engineering Manager and Utility Services Manager at the GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Nigeria Plc Agbara, Ogun State.
He also worked at the defunct Nigeria Paper Mill Limited in Jebba and Sterling Products Nigeria Plc Ilupeju Lagos, among others.
Engineer Umar holds a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Kwara State Polytechnic; Postgraduate Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from Federal University Akure; Master’s in Public Administration (International Business) from the Lagos State University; and Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from Federal University Akure.
He is a member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineers of Nigeria and a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), among others.
The appointment takes immediate effect.
