NCoS Controller advises officers to show good character, be dedicated

The Lagos State Controller of Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), Francis Adebisi, on Friday advised officers to show good character and be dedicated to their duties.

Adebisi gave the advice during a sendoff ceremony for Deputy Controller of Correction (DCG), Tunde Ladipo, at Alagbon in Lagos.

“Officers should be dedicated to their duties, be focused and avoid any vices that are against the NCos.

“They should work efficiently in accordance with the rules and regulations of the service so that they can get to the pick of their career,” he said.

The controller urged junior officers to emulate the gesture displayed by the retired officer for cohesion and unity among officers.

“They should continue on the way we have shown them so that they can be using the cohesion among themselves,” he said.

Also speaking, Controller of Correctional Service River State, Mr Odita Alex, gave testimony of his encounter with Ladipo, describing him as a quintessential officer who had to build a legacy for himself in the course of his career in NCos.

Retired DCG Tunde Ladipo, in his response, appreciated officers of NCos Lagos command for the support given to him during his tenure and urged them to display the same to the incumbent.

He also commended the planning committees for organising the sendoff party in recognition of his service.

He urged officers to be focused and put in their best in repositioning and moving the service to an enviable height while appreciating all state controllers for their presence.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Ladipo served as the officer-in-charge of the correctional centres in the following states; Abeokuta – 2007, Ilesa – 2012, and Medium Security Correction in Kirikiri Lagos.

NAN also reports that upon his promotion in 2012 as Controller of Corrections (CC), he was appointed the commandant, Prison Training College, Kirikiri in 2015 and also served as Controller of Prisons Lagos State Command 2017-2019.

He was promoted to the position of Assistant Controller General of Correction in charge of supplies and retired as Deputy Controlle, Health and Welfare, NCos, National Headquarters, Abuja.

Present at the ceremony included Assistant Controller of Correction (ACC), Uche Nwobi, in charge of Lagos and Ogun, and other senior officers of the NCos. (NAN)
