NEMSA gets new Managing Director, Aliyu Tahir
President Muhammadu Buhari approved the appointment of Aliyu Tahir as Managing Director/Executive Director of the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency, NEMSA.
ROYAL NEWS gathered that Tahir is also the Federation’s Chief Electrical Inspector more than 29 years of experience in the electricity sector.
A statement signed in Abuja on Wednesday by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, Nebeolisa Anaka, said the appointment was effective from December 31.
Mr. Anaka said that the appointment approved by the President was for a four-year term, which could be renewed for another four-year term, depending on performance and in accordance with the Public Service Rules.
The Nigerian News Agency reports that Mr. Tahir, who was previously General Manager, Technical Standard and Inspection Services, TS&IS, at NEMSA, succeeds Peter Ewesor, whose second and final term expired on October 3.
He joined the Ministry of Energy in 1993 and rose to the position of Deputy Director of the Department of Electrical Inspection Services, from where he was transferred to NEMSA as General Manager of TS/IS.
An Electrical Engineering graduate from Abubakar Tafawa Belewa University, he served as Secretary of the Presidential Task Force on Energy in 2011 while at the Ministry of Energy.
He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical Engineers, a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, IEEE.
He is also a registered member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN.
