New minimum wage will be implemented this year – Tinubu to workers

President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in his nationwide broadcast on new year address has promised his government will implement a new national minimum wage this year to alleviate the effect of the present economic challenge.

The President reassured Nigerians that his administration would work assiduously to ensure every Nigerians feel the impact of their government.

He added that hope that was entrusted in his government with a clear mandate to make the country better, to revamp the economy, restore security within our borders, revitalise our floundering industrial sector, boost agricultural production, increase national productivity and set our country on an irreversible path towards national greatness that we and future generations will forever be proud of shall be well preserved.

He accepted the fact that the country is experiencing some difficulties and yet necessary actions and decisions to save our country from fiscal catastrophe are in place and promised that all efforts shall be ensured to salvage the economy from the present state of quagmire.

He further said that plans are on the way to arrest food insecurity and provide job opportunities by setting up plans to cultivate 500,000 hectares of farmlands across the country to grow maize, rice, wheat, millet and other staple crops, also to launched the dry season farming.

The President, however, said time may be rough and tough but our spirit must remain unbowed because tough times never last, that socio-economic challenges of today should energize and rekindle our love and faith in the promise of Nigeria.

He promised that his administration will reform fiscal and tax policies, by putting in place codified and simplified to ensure the business environment does not destroy value and promised to fight every obstacle that impedes business competitiveness in the country and will not hesitate to remove any clog hindering path to making Nigeria a destination of choice for local and foreign investments.

Mr. President assured that 2024 Budget presentation to the National Assembly, shall prioritise areas like national defence and internal security, job creation, macro-economic stability, investment environment optimization, human capital development, poverty reduction and social security.
