Niger Governor Dissolves Cabinet, Tasks Permanent Secretaries with Ministries

Date:

Gov. Bago

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has dissolved his cabinet, directing Permanent Secretaries to oversee the affairs of ministries until new commissioners are appointed. The announcement was made on Monday during the weekly State Executive Council Meeting.

Governor Bago warned outgoing commissioners against lobbying for positions. “Don’t lobby anyone; no one can lobby me. As you leave here, please hand over to the Permanent Secretaries in your ministries,” he stated.

He assured that a new cabinet would be constituted within a week or two, adding that he had reviewed the performance of all commissioners. While some were praised for their contributions, others were noted to have underperformed.
