Nigerian Army’s 12 Brigade to Hold First Annual Range Classification Exercise in Lokoja

Date:

The Nigerian Army has announced that its 12 Brigade in Lokoja will conduct its first annual Range Classification Exercise from March 30 to April 2.

Lt. Hassan Abdullahi, the Brigade’s spokesperson, disclosed the plan in a statement on Monday in Lokoja, noting that the exercise will take place at the Chari Maigumeri Shooting Range.

According to Abdullahi, the exercise aims to enhance the marksmanship and operational readiness of officers and soldiers, as well as assess the serviceability of weapons in line with standard military requirements.

He added that the training is part of ongoing efforts by the Nigerian Army to strengthen its capacity to address banditry and other security challenges in the region.

Residents of Shettima, Zango, and neighbouring communities were urged not to panic at the sound of gunfire or troop movements during the exercise.

“Members of the public are advised to stay clear of the range area throughout the duration of the exercise for their safety,” Abdullahi said.

He further appealed to residents to help disseminate the information widely, including translating it into local languages to ensure adequate awareness.

The exercise marks a key step in the Army’s strategy to maintain operational readiness and ensure security in Kogi State and surrounding areas.
