The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a 12-year-old boy in the state capital.

Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Ahmed Wakil, disclosed the arrest in a statement released on Tuesday. He said the incident came to light on July 16, 2025, after the boy’s father, Ibrahim Maikudi, lodged a formal complaint at the ‘C’ Divisional Headquarters of the Bauchi Police Command.

According to the complaint, Maikudi noticed excrement on his son’s trousers, a situation his wife said she had observed on several occasions.

Following inquiries, the minor reportedly revealed that he had been lured by three men—identified as Lukman Mohammed (30), Musa Halilu (32), and one Alkasim (surname unknown)—to their residence, where the abuse allegedly occurred.

In response, police detectives visited the scene and referred the child to a specialist hospital in Bauchi for medical examination.

“Two suspects have been arrested, while efforts are underway to apprehend the third suspect, who remains at large,” the statement read.

Preliminary findings from the police revealed that an eyewitness, a local security guard, had earlier seen one of the suspects, Musa Halilu, chasing the boy on two different occasions. The guard said he had warned the boy to avoid the individuals involved.

The guard later saw the boy approaching the suspects’ residence and intervened. When questioned by the boy’s mother about the incident, the guard explained what he had witnessed, prompting the boy to disclose the alleged abuse.

The Commissioner of Police in Bauchi State, Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has directed the Deputy Commissioner in charge of the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to take over the case and ensure the arrest of the third suspect.
