Police Meet Islamic Movement Leaders Over Alleged Protest Plans in Jos

Date:

The Commissioner of Police in Plateau State, Bassey Ewah, has held a closed-door meeting with leaders of the Islamic Movement in Jos following viral voice notes alleging plans for violent protests in the city on Friday, March 6, 2026.

The meeting, held at the Police Command Headquarters in Jos, was prompted by circulating audio messages warning of possible unrest after religious prayers.

During the discussion, youth leaders of the Islamic Movement assured the Commissioner that no procession or protest would take place and pledged that members would peacefully disperse after their religious observances.

In response, the Nigeria Police Force in Plateau State announced enhanced security measures, including joint patrol deployments to strategic areas in Jos and increased surveillance to prevent any breakdown of law and order.

CP Ewah reassured residents that the state remains safe, urging citizens to go about their lawful activities while cooperating with security agencies and reporting suspicious movements.
