The Lagos State Police Command has arrested six men for allegedly abducting their business associate in the Lekki area of the state. The victim, identified by his nickname Senator, was reportedly held captive for three days over a business dispute.

According to police sources, the arrest was made on Friday morning after the victim’s family filed a missing person report. He had stepped out on Tuesday and failed to return, prompting a police search. Investigators traced his phone to an apartment in Lekki, where detectives rescued him.

Another police source said the suspects maltreated the victim during captivity. His phone was seized, and money was withdrawn from his bank account. Preliminary findings revealed that the men had engaged in a business transaction with him, which ended unfavourably for them, leading to the abduction as a form of recovery.

The nature of the business was not disclosed, but the police confirmed that investigations were ongoing. The suspects are expected to face charges once interrogations are completed.

A video obtained by PUNCH Metro showed the men being handcuffed after detectives rounded them up at the hideout. The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, said she was not yet aware of the case but promised to verify with the division handling it.

Kidnap-for-ransom cases and related abductions linked to disputes have been on the rise in Lagos and other parts of Nigeria. In August, police arrested a 32-year-old painter, Chigozie Clement, for allegedly kidnapping his customer’s seven-year-old son in Ketu Alapere and demanding a N7m ransom before being tracked and arrested.
