Super Falcons to parade WAFCON trophy in Abuja after historic 10th title win

Date:

Abuja is set to erupt in celebration as Nigeria’s Super Falcons return home in triumph, fresh off their record-extending 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title.

The champions are expected to arrive at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport by noon on Monday, where they will begin a trophy parade organized by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

To honor their remarkable 3–2 comeback victory over hosts Morocco in Saturday’s gripping final, an open-roof bus carrying the team and the prestigious WAFCON trophy will tour major routes in the Federal Capital Territory. The celebratory motorcade will pass through Airport Road, Berger Junction, Maitama, and Wuse Market, culminating at the Presidential Villa.

“This parade offers Nigerians a unique opportunity to celebrate our champions and see the WAFCON trophy up close,” said NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi. “It’s a proud moment for every Nigerian.”

The victory in Rabat not only sealed the Super Falcons’ place at the top of African women’s football history but also reaffirmed their dominance with a 10th continental crown — the most by any nation.

Later on Monday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR) will host the team at the Presidential Villa, wrapping up a memorable campaign and homecoming for Africa’s undisputed queens of football.
