A team comprising students from the University of Ilorin and Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) has emerged as the first runners-up at the 2025 Muslimah Tech Summit, held at Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, on Thursday, July 17.
The team—Ismail Khodijah, a Law student at UNILORIN, along with Hajarat Oyinkansola Olasinde (Chemical Engineering) and Roji Aliyat (Electronics and Electrical Engineering), both from LAUTECH—secured second place at the Muslimah Tech Pitch-A-Thon for their innovative solution, HAKCare Tech.
HAKCare Tech is a digital health platform designed to improve women’s access to healthcare by integrating culturally sensitive and inclusive technologies tailored to meet diverse needs.
The team was awarded a cash prize of ₦250,000, in addition to gaining access to expert mentorship, scholarship opportunities, and various post-summit development benefits.
Their achievement highlights not only the increasing visibility of women in science, technology, and innovation but also the strength of cross-institutional collaboration among students in Nigeria.
