Terrorists Invade Kwara Border Community, Kill Three in Koro-Egbe, Eruku Axis

Date:

No fewer than three people were killed on Monday evening when suspected bandits invaded Koro communities along the Kwara–Kogi border in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State. The attackers reportedly struck around the Koro-Ekiti and Egbe border axis, ambushing residents and throwing the area into panic.

Victims, said to be members of the Kemberi community, were shot dead after heavily armed assailants stormed the settlement without warning. Earlier in the day, residents had reported prolonged gunfire between Koro and Eruku, raising fears of coordinated attacks across the border communities.

Sources linked the worsening insecurity to suspected criminal elements believed to be operating from the nearby Ogbe Forest. Locals claim the forest has recently become a hideout for armed groups terrorising settlements along the Kwara–Kogi boundary.

The latest killings have forced many villagers to flee their homes amid fears of further assaults. Residents described a tense atmosphere, with families seeking safety in neighbouring communities.

As of press time, security authorities in Kwara and Kogi states had yet to issue an official statement on the incident. Community members have called for urgent joint security operations to flush out the attackers and restore calm to the troubled axis.
