TRAGEDY! Scores of school children die in Kogi tanker explosion

There was pandemonium on Wednesday when many people, including school children, were killed as a petrol tanker exploded in Felele, on the Lokoja-Abuja highway.

The victims of the tanker explosion, which occurred on Wednesday around 8.30am, close to the GT plaza included school children and students of the nearby Kogi State Polytechnic (KSP)as over ten vehicles got burnt.

Eyewitness account revealed that the petrol tanker which was coming from the Okene while making its way to the northern part of the country had a failed break which led to the accident.

The eyewitnesses said at least 20 persons may have died in the accident. Although Solacebase is yet to confirm the authenticity of the report.

The situation was worsened as other oncoming vehicles ran into the inferno.

Officials of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) temporarily shut the road to avoid serious further damage.

Men of the Federal Road Safety Corps and fire fighters were on hand to control the situation.
