The management of the University of Ilorin has congratulated Dr. L. A. Olatunji of the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, College of Health Sciences, for being the Bronze winner of the prestigious International Society of Hypertension (ISH) best presentation award.
It also felicitated with Dr. (Mrs.) R. Saidu of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Health Sciences, for winning the prestigious JC Coetzee Prize in Obstetrics and Gynaecology for the Best Research in the year 2016.
ROYAL NEWS gathered that Dr. Olatunji’s award was presented at the 26th Scientific Meeting of ISH held at Coex International Convention and Exhibition Centre, Seoul, Korea, between September 24 and 29, 2016.
In a congratulatory letter sent to him by the University Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Obafemi, the management commended Dr. Olatunji’s brilliant presentation both at the Pulse of Africa (POA) Conference and the 7th African Association of Physiological Sciences Conference.
It then urged him not to relent in his efforts but to continue to promote those ideals that have singled him out for recognition.
Meanwhile, the second award was given by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, University of Cape Town, South Africa.
In a congratulatory letter sent to Dr. Saidu, a copy of which was made available to Unilorin Bulletin, the management said that the coveted award was an eloquent testimony to her valuable contributions to the field of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, adding that “this is highly commendable”.
In the letter signed by the Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Obafemi, the management expressed the hope that she would not rest on her oars in bringing more laurels to her Faculty in particular and the University in general.
