UPDATED: Emir of Ilorin sympathises with victims of heavy downpour, donates roofing sheets (PHOTOS)

The Emir of Ilorin and Chairman Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Mai-Martaba Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has sympathised with victims of midnight downpour that wrecked havoc in the state over the weekend.

He also appealed to the federal and state governments to urgently assist affected persons in the face numerous socio-economic challenges occasioned by the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic goobally.

This is contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Media Aide to the Emir, Mallam Abdulazeez Arowona, pledging the support of the monarch to some affected households in the Ilorin metropolis.

According to him, “His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has donated roofing sheets to affected victims of the weekend heavy downpour in a bid to support their unfortunate condition.

“This will serve as palliative towards finding to the effect of the rain disaster. We share the pains of the affected families and pray that God will curb the reoccurrence of such incidence.

“We commend the Kwara State Government for its prompt action and visitations to the scenes of some affected homes. The federal government should deploy its machineries through the National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA) to support the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq-led government in the state towards providing necessary support to the affected households. ”
