Zamfara varsity lecturer abducted by bandit

Director, Centre for Research of the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State, Bello Janbako has been kidnapped by bandit.

 

Janbako, a senior lecturer at the university department of Islamic Studies, was kidnapped in his residence in Damba Gusau on Wednesday.

Nasamu Garba who reside in the area told the news men that the bandits broke into Janbako’s residence around 2 a.m. on Wednesday and abducted him.

Nasamu also said “security personnel engaged the bandits in a gun shot in a bid to resist the abduction”.

He further stressed: “When the bandits arrived at the residence of Janbako, they embarked on several gunshots to frighten people around away.

“They found their ways into the house and took him away but were confronted by the security personnel who arrived at the scene on a rescue mission.

“The encounter between the security personnel and the bandits was a serious fight but the bandits subdue the security personnel due to their numbers and ran back to the forest with Bello Janbako.”

“The bandits have been attacking us and have kidnapped many people from this area despite its closeness to the Government House Gusau” Nasamu said.

“Bandits actions have almost over ran the Damba area, and if we are not safe, one can say that the whole state is now controlled by bandits for there has been persistence of abduction in the area.”

“Residents of the area are currently seeking for more safer places as the bandits are always around and kidnapping the people for ransom”.
