Ahead the 2023 general elections, a leading aspirant for Ihiala federal constituency, Hon Johnmary Akachukwu Maduakolam says he would establish elders council if he get the mandate of his constituents.

Hon Maduakolam stated as a matter of fact that the convocation and constitution of Ihiala Elders Council will become a reality in less than six months of his stay in the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

“Within six months after my election, I will establish Ihiala Elders Council which will be comprised of all serving and former elected persons from Ihiala Local Government Area, Captains of industries and the PGs as well as representatives of all the political parties”.

“The core responsibility of the Elders’ Council will be to direct, support and hold to account political office holders. They will offer the elected officers their contacts, insights and advice to ensure that dividends of democracy is cascaded to our people. The elders will ensure synergy and continuity in advancing the common good of our people.

“The need to have the Elders Council in place has become imperative so that they can continue to bring their wealth of experience to bare in the efforts to move our constituency forward.

“We are going to do it in such a way that the council would be apolitical so that every Ihiala man and woman, boy and girl will benefit from the experiences of the elders.

“The elders I must say have crucial roles to play in the CLEAN project we hope to introduce in Ihiala federal constituency, it is of our believe that what an elder can see while sitting down, an ‘uninformed’ youth may not see such even if he goes to the mountain top.” Hon Maduakolam explained.

The House of Reps hopeful, a legal luminary pointed out that happenings in Ihiala council area at the moment has made it abundantly clear that the area is in dire need of positive change which CLEAN project would bring on board.
