The government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) on issues relating to the propagation of dawwah and other matters of Islamic affairs.

The agreement was signed in the office of the Minister of Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz with the Etsu Nupe and Chairman Niger State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, representing Nigeria.

ROYAL NEWS gathered that the signed memorandum will enhance cooperation between the Saudi Arabia and Nigeria in introducing Islam and its tolerance, and raising the cultural level of Muslims.

Other benefits include, “holding training courses for preachers, imams and preachers in Nigeria in the field of advocacy and teaching the Arabic language.

“It also included cooperation between the two parties in the affairs of mosques, mosque construction, maintenance and restoration, as well as preparing, training and qualifying mosque staff, in addition to exchanging expertise in the field of electronic advocacy, and confronting sites that incite violence and extremism, and offend Islam.”

The memorandum stipulated in the field of “Serving the Holy Quran and the Prophetic Sunnah”, providing the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in Nigeria with copies of the publications of the King Fahd Complex for Printing the Holy Quran and Translating its Meanings, exchanging invitations to participate in Quran memorization and recitation competitions, and the participation of judges in the field of Quran, recitation and interpretation, in competitions held in the two countries.

Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif bin Abdulaziz further stressed the ministry’s keenness to extend bridges of cooperation to spread the values ​​of Islam and its moderation, “which represent the message of the Kingdom under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Highness the Crown Prince.

He added that this memorandum will be the nucleus for further cooperation in serving Muslims in Nigeria and enhancing the concepts and values ​​of pure Islam through the courses, lectures and programs offered by the ministry through programs presented by an elite group of specialists.”

In his reaction, Etsu Yahaya Abubakar expressed his appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince for the work they provide to serve Islam and care for the Two Holy Mosques and their visitors.

He also applauded them for their continuous support for their brothers in Nigeria, indicating that signing the memorandum will have an impact in conveying the rich experience of the Kingdom in serving Islam and Muslims and spreading concepts that establish the values ​​of moderation and balance and reject extremism and fanaticism.
