Jigan Babaoja Raises Alarm Over Death Threats

Date:

Nollywood actor Jigan Babaoja has raised concerns over his safety following the leak of his personal phone number online, which he says has led to a wave of threats and harassment.

The actor, whose real name is Abimbola Kazeem, made the disclosure on Instagram, stating that the threats stem from a controversy linked to a WhatsApp group allegedly connected to the late singer Mohbad’s death.

Jigan alleged that his number was deliberately shared on social media, resulting in persistent phone calls and threatening messages from unknown individuals. He described the actions as a form of cyberbullying and psychological intimidation.

“This is how they start. This is pure bullying all because you want to prove a point,” he said. “You let my personal number out to your people to keep calling and sending threats to me. Exactly what was done to the late Mohbad.”

The actor warned that he would not be intimidated and called on the Nigeria Police Force to intervene. He tagged police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin in his post and urged authorities to take action before the threats escalate further.

Jigan claimed the volume and tone of the messages indicate a potential physical threat to his life. “The number of threats clearly shows they will attack me even on the streets,” he said, adding, “But for the streets, I’m fully prepared and aware.”

He further warned those involved that legal consequences would follow, stating that he is prepared to take action against individuals behind the threats.

The actor likened his situation to the circumstances surrounding the harassment faced by late singer Mohbad before his death, expressing fear of a similar outcome.

As of now, there has been no official response from the police regarding the actor’s complaint.
