The Obidient Movement has called for calm among its supporters as speculation grows over a possible political realignment involving Peter Obi and other opposition figures.
In a statement shared on X, the group’s National Coordinator, Yunusa Tanko, said Obi is currently consulting with political allies and stakeholders to determine “the most strategic and effective path forward” for Nigerians.
“The Obidient Movement acknowledges the growing concerns and widespread reports regarding recent political developments and evolving engagements with current and potential partners,” the statement read.
It urged supporters to remain calm and avoid being influenced by unverified reports, assuring that Obi would address the public in due course.
“Peter Obi remains fully committed to this mission and will formally address the Obidient Movement and the general public to provide clarity on the current situation and the direction ahead,” the statement added.
The movement said ongoing consultations are guided by principles of integrity, accountability, and citizen participation, stressing that any eventual decision would align with its vision of a “New Nigeria.”
The development comes amid reports of a possible opposition alliance involving Rabiu Kwankwaso, as well as discussions around a new political platform reportedly linked to Seriake Dickson, although no official confirmation has been made.
The situation follows growing dissatisfaction within opposition ranks over internal party structures and uncertainties stemming from recent court rulings on leadership disputes, further intensifying political calculations ahead of the next election cycle.
