The Kwara State Government has intensified its infrastructure development drive by completing 84 road and related projects between April and September 2025 — a major milestone in the administration’s ongoing Urban Renewal Agenda.
The Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, disclosed this during the third-quarter inter-ministerial press briefing held at the Ministry of Finance Conference Room on Wednesday.
According to him, the projects — spanning both urban and rural areas — cover a total of 76.5 kilometers within just six months. They include road construction, rehabilitation, and interlocking, all aimed at improving connectivity, reducing travel time, enhancing road safety, and transforming communities across the state.
“These achievements reflect our commitment to modernizing infrastructure in line with the Governor’s vision for a more connected and economically vibrant Kwara,” Olododo stated.
He added that 48 kilometers of roads are currently under construction, while another 52 kilometers have recently received approval, signaling sustained progress in the months ahead.
Beyond road projects, Olododo explained that infrastructural renewal under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration extends to other sectors. The Kwara State Road Maintenance Agency (KWARMA) has intensified palliative works to keep existing roads motorable, ensuring safety and accessibility for all road users.
The State Fire Service has also been strengthened with new tools, upgraded communication systems, and advanced training programs to enhance emergency response capacity. These efforts have helped save lives and property worth billions of naira during the period under review.
Additionally, the government’s commitment to rural development was underscored through the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), which is improving rural road networks and upgrading major agricultural markets across all senatorial districts — stimulating local economies and improving rural livelihoods.
Olododo emphasized that these strides go beyond physical development, serving as a cornerstone of the Governor’s broader vision for social progress, inclusive growth, and economic resilience.
“With over 384 kilometers of road projects completed or ongoing since the inception of this administration, Kwara is steadily transforming into a more connected, business-friendly, and resilient state,” he concluded.
