Before now, the general belief of many people, particularly average Nigerians is that private educational institutions are extremely expensive, and they are made for children of the rich. But Crown Polytechnic, Odo, Ado Ekiti in Ekiti State is changing the narrative by providing quality education that is affordable for all.

Located in a serene environment along Ado Ekiti-Ilawe road, Crown Polytechnic, with aesthetic structures, has become a brand that is reckoned with when referring to education providers in Ekiti state.

Crown Polytechnic, the first private polytechnic in Ekiti state was accredited on the 8th of January, 2008 by the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE, and licensed to operate fully having complied and met the operational requirements.

The institution has the mandate to issue National Diploma and Higher National Diploma certificates in the following schools; Engineering, Applied Science, Environmental Studies, and Business Management studies, with 22 different courses already accredited by the NBTE.

Prospective students can pursue a carrier in Computer Engineering, Electrical Electronics, Computer Science, Science Laboratory Technology (Micro Biology Option), Fisheries Technology, Statistics, Architectural Technology, Building Technology, Estate Management & Valuation, Quantity Surveying, Urban & Regional Planning, Accountancy, Business Administration & Management, and Public Administration, among others.

The Polytechnic, possessing the penchant for excellent and consistently adding value to training through innovation, research, and scholarship, creates opportunities for students to acquire and develop their skills in different vocations with the establishment of an entrepreneurship center.

The main vision of the founder, Mr. Clement Olufemi Ajisola Esq. is to have a Polytechnic that is International in scope and cosmopolitan in outlook. “Our approach here is revolutionary and we do not doubt that our diplomats ought to be entrepreneurs on successful completion of their respective programmes.”

He believes quality education should not only be an exclusive right of children of the rich, those from poor backgrounds too should have access to the same benefits being enjoyed by the rich. This necessitated the establishment of the institution.

To achieve this, the institution has made tuition fees affordable and provided a flexible mode of payment for all students. Little wonder children of the poor, low-class salary earners are among those enrolled to study in the school. That, however, does not reduce the quality of facilities put in place to enhance learning.

In November 2013, Crown Polytechnic received the 3rd prize award at the 2nd National Education Innovations Exhibition from the Federal Ministry of Education in Nigeria. No wonder, the institution is rated among the 50 best private polytechnics in Nigeria.

The Polytechnic has a mission conceptualized in a statement as follows: “Crown Polytechnic will be a first-class manpower provider for the Nigeria Economy in the field of technology and management through the provision of a purposeful and qualitative Polytechnic education and training for the teeming Nigerian Youths.” No doubt, the Polytechnic has continued to live up to its vision and mission for which it was established.

Prospective students are assured that they will be making the right choice by choosing Crown Polytechnic. This is because the school is known for academic excellence, providing good hostel accommodation, a conducive learning environment, certified lecturers, an uninterrupted academic calendar, and above all their security is guaranteed.

The Polytechnic has well-equipped laboratories and workshops with modern tools that could enhance students learning.

Crown Polytechnic understands the importance of information technology in this modern age, hence putting in place a well-furnished and equipped ICT center to aid students’ knowledge so they can be able to compete favorably with their counterparts in the labor market.

Apart from infusing knowledge, the institution is also known for molding the characters of teeming youths. Students are being trained on how to be respectful, responsible, disciplined, and useful in society.

Another unique thing about Crown Polytechnic is that it has maintained its academic calendar making it ahead of its contemporaries. When other institutions are still struggling to complete the 2020/2021 session occasioned by the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic, the institution already commenced the 2021/2022 academic session.

This is made possible through the efforts of the management of the institution, particularly the Rector, Mr. Kolawole Ajisola, who has been working relentlessly to ensure a hitch-free academic session.

No doubt, the institution has continued to live to its expectations and mission statement with new developments being witnessed in terms of infrastructures and human development.

Graduates of Crown Polytechnic are all over the states across the country and doing well in their chosen profession. As we speak, those who just concluded their programmes are currently preparing to undergo the compulsory National Youth Service Corps, NYSC.

Apart from improving the social life of the host community, Odo, the establishment of the institution has helped in improving the economy of residents who are engaged in trade or handwork. It has in no measure impacted the life of the people and encouraged many of them to learn one trade or the other, and are being patronized by students of the institution.

Of course, landlords in the community have good reasons to smile as they give out their houses for rent to students who choose to live off-campus. This indeed is one of the numerous benefits the siting of the Polytechnic in the community has brought to the inhabitants.

As parents, you have our assurance that when you send your children to us, you may go to bed to sleep, and we will surely bring out the best in them.
