Ex- UniAbuja Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nuhu Yaqub dies at 73

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Abuja, Professor Nuhu O. Yaqub, is dead, ROYAL NEWS reports.

He was aged 73. The ex-VC died on Saturday in Abuja after a brief illness.

Professor Yaqub, who served as Vice-Chancellor of the university from 2004 to 2009, was a towering figure in the Nigerian academic landscape.

His tenure was marked by significant advancements in academic programs, infrastructural development, and the promotion of a culture of excellence.

The university, in a heartfelt statement, described his passing as an irreplaceable loss, not only to the institution but to the broader academic community.

“Professor Yaqub’s leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to education left an indelible mark on the University of Abuja,” the statement read.
