Militia suspected to be Fulani herdsmen on Wednesday made fresh attack on Tse-Zoola community in Makirdi Local Government Area of Benue State.

The gunmen invaded the community early hours of Wednesday and butchered two residents.

The eldest man in the community, Aho Zoola said the militia herdsmen, without any provocation, attacked the villagers on Wednesday and killed one Zaki Hyacinth Ajon and Benjamin Anakula.

Meanwhile, the Governor of the State, Samuel Ortom, while returning from burial of one Mrs Bridget Mom, stopped his convoy when he noticed that an incident occurred in the area.

According to Ortom’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Jimin Geoffrey, the governor asked the residents if they had clashed with the Fulani herders prior to the attack but Aho, the eldest man replied that the villagers have never had any issue with herdsmen even when their herds graze on their crops.

The governor after sympathising with the villagers displaced from their homes assured them that he would do everything possible to get security agencies to the area.
