The Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association (IEYDA) has commended His Excellency, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, following his inspection of the guard of honour at the official passing-out parade of the newly trained Kwara State Forest Guards.
The association, operating under the esteemed auspices of the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari CFR, praised the Governor’s leadership and the strategic initiative aimed at bolstering security in the state.
In a statement released on Saturday and signed by its National President, Alhaji Mohammed Uthman Jagunmo, the IEYDA expressed strong support for the newly graduated guards, who are set for immediate deployment to various forested areas across Kwara State.
The statement highlighted that Governor Abdulrazaq is billed to address the personnel, amid broader appreciation for the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), and the nation’s security forces in the ongoing campaign to secure the country and curtail the activities of terrorists and kidnappers.
Describing the newly established forest guard scheme as a “game changer,” the IEYDA lauded it as a critical component in the determined multi-layered campaign against criminal elements leveraging forested terrain.
The association also noted the dual benefit of the programme, which saw guards recruited from diverse communities across Kwara State with massive government support. Beyond enhancing security, the initiative has created significant employment opportunities for citizens, contributing to youth engagement and economic empowerment.
The deployment of the forest guards marks a significant step in Kwara State’s localized strategy to complement national security efforts, ensure the safety of rural communities, and deny sanctuary to criminal gangs.
