Neymar responds to Brazil’s world cup snub

Date:

Santos forward Neymar Jr. has spoken out after being left out of Brazil’s squad for their upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifying matches.

The 33-year-old was not included in head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s selection for September fixtures against Chile and Bolivia. Ancelotti explained that Neymar was dealing with a “minor problem” that required attention before he could return to competitive action.

In response, Neymar took to Instagram, where he posted a photo of himself working out in a gym. His caption appeared to signal resilience and focus despite the setback.

“Success comes from desire, determination, and persistence in achieving a goal. Even if you don’t reach your target, those who seek and overcome obstacles will, at the very least, do admirable things,” he wrote.

The statement marks Neymar’s first public reaction since his omission, with the forward stressing the importance of perseverance in his career journey.

Brazil have already secured their place at the 2026 World Cup but will continue their qualification campaign with a home clash against Chile on September 5 before travelling to face Bolivia five days later.
