PDP scribe, Bemgba Iyortyom applauds journalists’ societal roles

The state secretary of opposition people’s Democratic Party in Benue State, Mr Bemgba Iyortyom, has applauded Journalists as vanguard of the society.

The PDP Scribe made the declaration on Thursday in Makurdi, when he paid homage on Chairman and members of Correspondents Chapel of the Nigerian Union of journalists, Benue Council.

Mr Iyortyom praised the role of the media practitionesr for keeping the populace abreast with information within and outside saying if not you all could have been in darkness on what goes on in the state.

He further appreciated the daunting Challenges you’ve always faced in the course of dishing out awareness on salient issues to the public.

“Am here to say thank you on what you have been doing for him and his party as well as entire citizens by feeding the people with truth on those in corridors of power their policies and programmes whether right or wrong.

Recalling that early last October 2023 he was invited by the DSS over a statement I issued in relation to Constant killings innocent people by Fulani herdsmen and indicted Governor Hyacinth Alia for remaining adamant on the human carnage in the State.

“On the premise of these i was petitioned by him and when went there he was kept behind the bar for seven days, while in their custody journalists kept highlighting the incident, consequently regain freedom.

In his Mr.Emmanuel Antswen Chairman of the Chapel has expressed gratitude with the Secretary Mr Iyortyom to show appreciation.
