Peter Obi Joins ADC Ahead of 2027 Polls

The Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election,Peter Obi,  has defected to the coalition-backed African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Obi announced his decision on Wednesday in Enugu, marking a major political shift ahead of the 2027 elections.

The former Anambra State governor said the move was driven by a desire to “transform and rescue Nigeria,” signalling his intention to remain active in national politics.

Obi revealed during the announcemen that.“We are ending this year with the hope that in 2026 we will begin a rescue journey,”

He also pledged to oppose electoral malpractice, stating that his supporters would “resist rigging by every lawful means” in the 2027 polls.
