Presidency Reaffirms Tinubu’s Resolve To Tackle Insecurity, Foster Unity

Date:

The Presidency has reiterated President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to ending insecurity and strengthening peaceful coexistence across Nigeria.

Sunday Dare, Special Adviser to the President on Policy Communication, made the remarks on Tuesday in a post on X, praising Tinubu’s dedication to peacebuilding, religious tolerance, and national cohesion.

Dare said Nigeria was fortunate to have a leader prepared to confront terrorism and restore unity. “Nigeria is now blessed with a President that is committed to ending the scourge of terror and insecurity,” he wrote.

He added that Tinubu remains focused on promoting collaboration to advance religious harmony, improve economic relations, and build a resilient nation.

Dare described the country’s religious and cultural diversity as a source of strength rather than division, noting that Nigerians share common experiences despite their different faiths. “Our faiths will continue to differ; our destinies do not,” he said.

According to him, both Christians and Muslims have shared “grief and hope” and will continue to rebuild the nation together.

His comments come ahead of a planned meeting between Tinubu and U.S. President Donald Trump, following allegations of “Christian genocide” in Nigeria.

Presidential aide Daniel Bwala previously confirmed the proposed meeting, saying discussions would focus on counterterrorism cooperation and correcting misconceptions about violence in Nigeria.

The development follows Trump’s recent threat to halt aid and consider military action over claims of widespread persecution of Christians — allegations the Nigerian government has repeatedly rejected.

The controversy began after U.S. lawmaker Riley Moore accused Nigeria of systematic attacks on Christians, characterising the country as the deadliest place in the world for followers of the faith, a claim authorities in Abuja have dismissed as misleading.
