Operatives of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), Alagbon, Lagos, have arrested seven suspects in connection with a violent attack that led to the death of an engineer, Badmus Monsur, in the Agidingbi area of Lagos.
Monsur, an employee of Nigercat Nigeria Group of Companies, was reportedly killed during an altercation at a property allocated by the Lagos State government.
The Chairman of Nigercat, Alhaji Akeem Osuolale, confirmed the arrests and raised concerns over possible interference in the investigation. He alleged that some senior law enforcement officials may be working to secure the release of the suspects.
Speaking to journalists in Ikeja, Osuolale praised the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, and the lead investigator, CSP Oyewale, for acting swiftly, but cautioned that previous arrests in similar cases were often compromised.
“There have been instances where suspects were arrested and released on the same day, even while our staff remained in detention,” he said.
Osuolale further claimed that the group behind the attack had made repeated threats against him and his employees, boasting of their alleged connections within the security apparatus. He said over 25 armed men were involved in the fatal incident.
He called on Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to intervene and ensure that justice is not subverted.
Police authorities have not yet commented on the incident, stating that the investigation is ongoing.
