One Mercy Orija has been accused of raping a 12-year-old girl, Janet Fakeye, to death in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Orija, said to be an ex-convict, was said to have fled shortly after the incident at Fehintoluwa community, in Idiya, Abeokuta-North Local Government Area of Ogun.

The fleeing suspect had once been convicted for assaulting a Point of Service operator in the community last year.

The victim, a Junior Secondary School student at the Army Day Secondary School, Alamala, Abeokuta, was reportedly dragged into a house by the suspect while on an errand.

It was gathered that Orija tied the teenager’s hands, her legs and covered her mouth before forcing himself on her.

Confirming the incident, the victim’s father, Sanjo Fakeye, is seeking justice from the authorities.

“I gave Janet money to buy detergent to wash her school uniform. When she didn’t return after a long time, I went to her friend’s place to ask for my daughter, she said she had not seen her.

“I later went to report at the police station around 8 p.m. that my daughter was missing. As we were heading towards the police station, I received a call from the community that they had found the dead body of my daughter.

“My daughter was raped to death by Mercy after he tied her hands, her legs and covered her mouth.

“The remains of my daughter were dumped into another building beside his house after he committed the offence. I want Justice,” he said amidst tears.

The father explained that the detergent and blood stains were seen in the suspect’s house, saying he ran away through the back door.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the State, Abimbola Oyeyemi said the police were on the trail of the suspect.

Oyeyemi confirmed that the suspect was recently released from prison custody.

“It is true that we have launched a manhunt for the suspect. The suspect is an ex-convict who was just released from prison.

“He would soon be arrested and be made to face justice,” Oyeyemi said.

  • SHOCKING….. Randy teacher sentenced to death

SHOCKING….. Randy teacher sentenced to death

A randy school teacher has been sentenced to death for raping 13 girls at an Islamic school.

The teacher, Herry Wirawan, was handed the ultimate sentence by an Indonesian court on Monday

The court upheld an appeal by prosecutors for the death penalty after he had initially received a sentence of life in prison.

The case of teacher Wirawan had shocked Indonesia and shone a spotlight on the need to protect children from sexual violence in the country’s religious boarding schools.

After he was sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in the city of Bandung in February, prosecutors who had called for the death penalty filed an appeal.

The judge in a statement on Monday posted on the Bandung High Court’s website said “(we) hereby punish the defendant with the death penalty.”

Ira Mambo, Wirawan’s lawyer, declined to comment on whether there would be an appeal, citing a need to see the full ruling from the court.

A spokesperson for the local prosecutor’s office also said it would wait to receive the final ruling before commenting.

Between 2016 and 2021, Wirawan sexually groomed the 13 girls, who were between 12 and 16 years old, and impregnated eight of his victims, a judge said in February.

Indonesian officials, including the country’s child protection minister, had also backed calls for the death penalty, though the nation’s human rights commission, which opposed the death penalty, said it was not appropriate.

Indonesia, the world’s biggest Muslim majority country, has thousands of Islamic boarding schools and other religious schools that often provided the only way for the children of poorer families to get an education. (Adapted from a Reuters/NAN report)

Popular Comedian, Princess has revealed that her foster child is the 14-year-old girl allegedly defiled by Yoruba actor, Olarenwaju James, aka Baba Ijesha.

Recall that Baba Ijesha was arrested after he confessed to molesting the teenager.

Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, had disclosed that the actor started sexually assaulting the teenager when she was seven-years-old.

Princess in a video shared on her Instagram page disclosed that after the crash of her marriage, some parents allowed about six children in number, to live with her so she wouldn’t be lonely.

She was also helping Baba Ijesha while taking care of the children.

Princess alleged that it was during one of his visits to her house that he molested one of the three girls living with her.

She said the defilement had an adverse effect on the child as she began to decline academically and otherwise.

“After seven years, the girl told me and someone else what Baba Ijesha did to her after she saw him in a movie. I called him for a meeting in the house where I set up a CCTV camera where he was captured trying to molest the girl again.

“I left the house and told him to relax I’ll be back soon, immediately I left he searched my house to see if anyone was in aside the girl and later proceeded to defile her.

“I can’t even disclose the things he did while I was monitoring on my phone but immediately I saw her stand up to the kitchen where there was no camera I and the police entered the house and arrested him,” she narrated.

Princess, who broke down in tears, said she queried Baba Ijesha, demanding why he did such a thing to her and he confessed ‘It was the Devil’

The comedian further called out those who are accusing her of trying to “tarnish his image.”

She wondered why people will demand that the video of minor being molested be shared to the public.

“I am in a state of shock and despair” – Distraught father of young woman reportedly gang raped by bandits in Katsina speaks out

The father of a young woman reportedly raped by bandits in a viral video, Kabir Ibrahim has called on President Buhari to take decisive action to restore security in the North West and North East part of the country.

Speaking to Vanguard on Monday, December 14, Ibrahim who hails from Faskari, Katsina State said he is traumatised by the dehumanizing treatment his young daughter was susbjected to.

“I come from Faskari the Southern most part of Katsina State bordering Zamfara State in the North West of Nigeria. The lady in the video is my daughter so I am personally involved in this unfolding drama. I am in a state of shock and despair especially that I encouraged her to vote this Government into power.” he said.

“I would have resigned my appointment upon watching the dastardly act in the video if I held any appointment at least to show my displeasure at the state of affairs. I am not calling on the President to resign but asking him to redouble his effort to restore security in Nigeria especially in the North West and North East where Insecurity has taken its toll.

“In the North East, this mayhem has been lingering for upward of 11 years while in the North West it’s been on for nearly five years. I looked forward to the end of it all at the onset of the administration because the President is a retired General with a lot of experience in warfare having fought Nigeria’s civil war and served as commander-in-chief among other things before being elected.

“I am slightly disappointed that it is not happening but hopeful still that it could happen if the following decisions are taken immediately. Reinvigorate the security management Architecture by injecting new blood into it because there is apparent fatigue right now.”

Ibrahim called on the government to defoliate and bulldoze forests in North West, North East and parts of North Central which have provided a cover for armed bandits and terrorists for many years.

“Defoliate and sectorially bulldoze all the forests in the regions affected by banditry in the North East and North West and some parts of the North Central. Suspend all development projects and concentrate on the restoration of security forthwith. Declare a state of emergency in the severely affected regions,” he stated.

“Recall all the reservists who are still able to beef up the security services for the state of emergency period. Convene a Council of State meeting to get all the past leaders, the traditional leaders of the country to commit to the restoration of security. Reinvigorate the Federal executive council by appointing fresh and strong persons to manage the affairs of the various Ministries and MDAs.” he added.

  • Cambodian NGO reveals extent of widespread rape within families

Cambodian NGO reveals extent of widespread rape within families

Rape within families is widespread in Cambodia with the largely underage victims regularly failed by the legal system, new research has found.

The report was released on Thursday by an NGO, the Cambodian League for the Promotion and Defence of Human Rights (LICADHO).

It stated that nearly a third of rape or attempted rape cases that it investigated involved either a blood relative or in-law of the victim.

Analysing all of the 446 cases it probed between 2017 and 2019, the NGO found that some 80 per cent were children under 18.

Victims of sexual assault from a family member face an uphill battle for justice, said LICADHO Deputy Director of monitoring Am Sam Ath.

“The harms of family rape are well known, but there is still not enough being done to make sure that perpetrators are held accountable,’’ he said.

Out of the 137 cases involving a relative, only 53 per cent resulted in a conviction that led to the perpetrator serving an appropriate prison sentence.

Some 19 per cent resulted in a light conviction, a short sentence and, or the perpetrator being convicted in absentia without an arrest.

While other cases remain in limbo, many victims were unable to come forward, the group said.

“The long-standing and persistent barriers to justice for people who are raped in Cambodia are compounded for women and girls who are raped by a relative.

“These individuals face additional barriers of family pressure to ignore sexual violence, and often rely financially on the perpetrator,’’ the authors wrote.

  • 13-year-old girl found almost lifeless and bleeding profusely after she was brutally raped by neighbour in Benue

13-year-old girl found almost lifeless and bleeding profusely after she was brutally raped by neighbour in Benue

In yet another incident of sexual assault, a 13-year-old girl lost lots of blood after she was brutally raped by a 20-year-old man in Wadata area of Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

It was gathered that the profusely bleeding young girl, who sells a local delicacy in front of her house, was rushed to the hospital after the horiffic ordeal but her current condition is stated to be unstable.

According to activist, Ukan Kurugh, the suspect identified as Ali Usman has been arrested. However, the victim’s family are under pressure to drop the case as they are poor and can’t afford to go to court.

Narrating how the incident, Mr Kurugh said on Sunday evening, October 4, the suspect called the girl to bring him some food. On getting to his door, he dragged her into his room where he brutally raped her. Her scream alerted neighbours who broke into the apartment and found her covered in blood and almost lifeless.

    Read details below:

RAPE! THE UGLY MONSTER IS BENT ON DESTRUCTION. WILL IT DESTROY ALL OUR CHILDREN OR WE WILL KILL IT BEFORE IT DOES? THERE IS YET ANOTHER RAPE OF A MINOR, A 13 YEAR OLD GIRL AT WADATA MAKURDI.

The numerous rape cases especially involving minors have become too rampant and it is not just Sickening and saddening, it is indeed worrisome. Like a raving monster, this act of rape is capable of destroying all our children, none will be safe or spared if we don’t act decisively.

Another rape case has been reported in the Wadata axis of Makurdi. This one is between one Ali Usman, adult of about 20years and a 13year old girl within the same neighborhood.

On this fateful rainy Sunday evening, the little girl who sells a local food called Awara, was selling it in front of the compound when this neighbor called that he wanted to buy.

He asked her to bring it into the room, she had brought it to the door and in the process of handing over the food, the young man dragged her by her hijab, covering her face and mouth, and preventing her cries from being heard outside.

He was so brutal, infact, the crime scene is better imagined than seen. She lost so much blood in the process and was so weak, but she didn’t stop making efforts at screaming even with her mouth gagged up.

Due to the fact that it was raining, her screams couldn’t be easily heard. But with her persistence, the cries finally got to the neighbours and on breaking in, they met her almost lifeless.

She was rushed to the hospital and it was discovered she had lost so much blood. Her PCV was just about 19%.

I was called at the hospital by Mrs Bai and I was able to raise some money for her treatment. The parents had no money on them.

I enquired if they have reported the matter to the police yet, and they answered in the affirmative. The Rapist has been arrested.

I moved them to the Police hospital yesterday where more tests were run on her. I left them after some time and I was later called that she had fainted again, and was rushed to the hospital. Obviously, more damage has been done to her than we can imagine.

The family has no money and is really reluctant in pursuing the case. Infact a family member advised that charges be dropped as they cannot afford to go to Court. But I stopped them, this is not a matter to be left unattended to. Justice has to be pursued, and with all sense of seriousness.

I am using this opportunity to call on FIDA, individuals and all other concerned bodies. This case needs all the support it can get. If this is left in the hands of the girl’s family alone, there may be no case against the rapist and that will make one more monster on the loose, looking for the next available victim.
