TunesBid Limited has filed a lawsuit against Nigerian singer Ayo Maff, alleging a breach of an exclusive recording contract signed in December 2023.
In a statement posted to its official Instagram account, the record label accused the singer and his management team of violating the terms of the agreement, which it claims remains legally binding.
According to TunesBid, the label fully financed the production and promotion of Maff’s singles Street Anthem, Dealer, and 7 Days, and also secured a distribution deal with Empire Distribution on his behalf.
The label warned show promoters and entertainment companies against conducting business with the artist, stating that any such dealings could result in legal consequences.
“TunesBid Limited, following a series of discussions, entered an Exclusive Recording Agreement with Ayo Maff on December 3, 2023,” the statement read. “The agreement was executed with the artist’s legal representatives from OceansTreasure Limited.”
The label further claimed the contract included specific obligations for the release of three singles within the first seven months, which were allegedly met using TunesBid’s funding.
However, the company now accuses the singer and his management of deliberately undermining the agreement by entering into unauthorized contracts with other parties.
“The singer and his management have continued to act in bad faith by attempting to defraud the label,” the statement added.
TunesBid maintains that Ayo Maff remains under contract and emphasized that any third party engaging with him does so at their own legal risk.
As of the time of this report, Ayo Maff has not issued a public response to the allegations.
