The Federal Government to adopt the University Transparency and Accountability Solution (UTAS) platform instead of Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS) as the medium for the payment of salaries of academic staff of the nation’s ivory towers in order to encourage industrial harmony.

The University of Ilorin Branch of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) stated this
in a statement jointly signed by Prof. Salihu Moyosore Ajao and Dr. Abdulganiyu Olatunji, the Chairman and Secretary of the chapter, respectively.

The Union specifically drew the attention of stakeholders and other members of the general public to the continuous non-implementation of the 2020 agreement the Federal Government had with the Union.

The statement also urged the government to immediately ensure an improvement in the conditions of service, particularly increment in the salaries of academic staff of universities, in the interest of justice and industrial harmony.

While expressing its readiness to adopt the decision of its parent body to pressurise the government towards the implementation of the agreement, the Unilorin Branch urged stakeholders to swiftly do the needful in order to avoid a situation where Nigerian universities will be closed down again.
