The federal government has restated its commitment to the provision of infrastructure aimed at ensuring affordable and secured transportation systems in Nigeria.

Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Ahmed Alkali gave the assurance when the executive members of the Nigerian Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) paid him a courtesy call in his office.

To this end, the Minister revealed that plans have reached the advance stage by the federal government to construct a brand new bus terminal in each of the six geopolitical zones of the country, noting that, when constructed, the facility would serve as CNG conversion centre, ease transportation and also provides job opportunities to those venturing into the industry.

The Minister, in a statement signed by his special assistant on media and publicity, Umar Alkali Jibril, assured Nigerians of the present administration’s unwavering commitment to bring succour to Nigerians, pointing out that subsidy removal on petrol was effected in good faith.

Earlier speaking, the Chairman of NURTW, Gombe State Council, Alh. Muhammad Buhari Usman said they were in his office to express their unflinching support to the administration at both national and state levels.

The Chairman while felicitating with the Minister on his well deserved appointment as member of the FEC from Gombe state, equally enjoined him not to relent in providing basic infrastructure like roads network, CNG powered vehicles and other facilities in strategic motor parks with a view to ensuring security and safety of motorists and passengers across the length and breadth of Nigeria.

Alh. Buhari Usman explained that the union has 41 branches in the state, pointing out that their members are law-abiding Nigerians ready to contribute their quota to the socioeconomic growth of the nation.
