As Kwarans await result of suspected COVID-19 patient

There is palpable indications that the wife of a chartered accountant who died recently at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, (UITH), Alhaji Jimoh Muideen,  may have tested positive for the coronavirus infection.

ROYAL NEWS recently wrote: ” COVID-19: Disquiet at UITH over patient’s death” a publication which generated arguments among stakeholders in the society on the fact that the deceased may have died of coronavirus infection going by the symptoms that led to his death.

It would be recalled that the Kwara State Government on Friday denied that the state has recorded a case of coronavirus (COVID-19), adding all the six samples of suspected cases so far tested in the state have been negative.

“Rafiu Ajakaye, spokesman of the Kwara State Technical Committee on COVID-19, said in a statement in that “Findings by the medical advisory subcommittee revealed that the patient and his wife arrived from the United Kingdom, reportedly came to Ilorin on 20th March, 2020, and went into self-quarantine without reaching out to the government or the technical committee. On the 13th day of the self-quarantine, the husband suddenly had difficulties breathing after reportedly eating dinner and was rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital. Efforts to resuscitate him proved abortive and he was pronounced dead.”

However, it was said that some of the deceased’s contact persons who are majorly health workers have been put to test and findings revealed that they all tested negative for COVID-19 whil the result of his wife is being anxiously awaited by members of the public.

Meanwhile, an online news platform, Fresh Insight TV reported that the much awaited result had been confirmed to be positive.

According to the publication, “Speaking with this medium under condition of anonymity, multiple sources from UITH, government and the test centre in Lagos where the samples were taken to for PCR test, it was confirmed that the result of the deceased wife have been returned positive this morning.

“Fresh Insight TV reliable medical source in Lagos, said “The result of the wife of the deceased have turned out positive, we sent the result to Ilorin around 10:30am this morning” he confirmed.

“Speaking in the same vein, a highly placed government source confirmed to Fresh Insight TV when prodded,, he said “I can tell you the wife of the deceased have tested positive, we’re only awaiting the confirmation of the other results before official announcement is made” he emphasized.

“On the delay with announcement, he said it is the duty of the NCDC to officially announce after due communications with all relevant authorities, so we should have the official announcement before the day runs out.

“It would be recalled Fresh Insight TV had exclusively bursted the lies and attempt cover up of the suspected covid 19 carrier, wherein his death was alluded to be caused by food poisoning.”
