A foremost Non-Governmental organisation, (NGO) the Gbenga Power Foundation says it will continue to touch the lives of the people especially downtrodden in the society.

The Chairman of the Gbenga Power Foundation, Honourable Gbenga Oyekunle Power gave this assurance while speaking with newsmen during series of programs organized by the foundation which coincides with the Eid-el-Kabir celebration at Ifelodun LGA of Kwara State.

Honourable Gbenga Power also donated about one hundred and fifty handwashing containers across Igbaja in continuation of his partnership with the state government technical committee on COVID-19.

The Gbenga Power Foundation also distributed semovita across the entire wards in Ifelodun LGA through the APC executives all in a bid to assist the indigent people at the hinterlands.

No fewer than 120 women were given small business start sum of N20,000 each in Igbaja while six football teams played friendly match at Igbaja and Kaba Owode.

Honourable Gbenga Power said that the poverty index in Kwara State and Nigeria can be reduced drastically if the wealthy individuals can take out time to assist the less privileged around them “we must bear in mind that any society where people are hungry and dying of preventable and curable diseases does not reflect that the rich and influential in such settings have the interest of their people; don’t get me wrong this is not about political office holders and anything government apparatus but the entire populace “.

The philanthropist said that one of the reasons for establishing the Gbenga Power Foundation about ten years ago the idea behind it was to improve standard of living of the indigent people in Kwara State and beyond irrespective of their background.

“God created all of us from His image and it was not a mistake on the part of God that we are different in race, colour, religion and ethnic so my believe is that human beings are all equal “.

He said that women and youth deserved attention at all times through empowerment and encouraging sports which was why he has been initiating many programs including the recent one.

“We are all complaining that youth are vulnerable to crimes and criminality in the country but not muchhas been done, and as a sports enthusiast I know it has the potential to pre-occupy them so that was why this novelty football match was organised: they all played with zeal and passion and as the organiser with a goal of motivating them all the contingents got cash reward.

The event has the blessings of the Elese of Igbaja Oba Babalola Awuni Arepo who lauded the Gbenga Power Foundation for its timely intervention of providing succour to the people.

The friendly football match which was played at Igbaja and Kaba Owode respectively was widely attended by the people including stalwarts of the All Progressives Congress APC in Ifelodun LGA such Alhaji Fasasi and Mr Pakere among others.

Honourable Gbenga Power promised to continue to support the people at all times because according to him, “you don’t need to be a millionaire before you assist others, if you have 10 tubers of yam that will sustain you and your family for one week and you have a neighbour who doesn’t have what to eat for a day…you can give him and his family two tubers of yam it will go a long way…government can not be everywhere but that does not mean they should neglect the masses “.

The Chairman of the Gbenga Power Foundation promised the people of Ifelodun LGA and Kwara South that more life transforming programs are in the pipeline for them.
