Gov Bello advocates more investment on education, health

Niger State Governor, Alh. Abubakar Sani Bello has emphasized the need to invest in the education and health sectors of the country.

He noted that they are paramount to the lives of citizens as well as nation building process.

The governor said stated this on Monday in Minna, at the 2019 All Progressive Congress Gubernatorial Election Campaign : Stakeholders Briefing, prelude to the campaign flag-off in preparation for the forthcoming election.

The Governor who noted that education and health have essential roles to play in the lives of citizens said there is also need to include skill acquisition in the primary and and secondary school curriculum so as to enable pupils and students learn at least one skill as the increase in the population of the country especially in the northern part is drastic.

He stated that investing in the eduational sector of the state may take time for its value to come to bear as a result of the gestation period but would go along way to add value to the lives of the people. Adding that “it is our collective interest especially in the Northern part of Nigeria

“We must invest in education, we must invest in health, we do not have choice. I know investment in education is not something you will see the value immediately. The gestation period would take 10 years, less or even more but as a people it is our collective interest especially in the Northern part of Nigeria. ”

“We must support education, we must support our primary healthcare , we must make sure our children go to school. It may be very expensive but we have no choice, we have to do it.” He reiterated.

” At the same time due to our increasing population up north we must train our children in different skills.”

” I have directed the Ministry of Education and The State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) to look at the curriculum of our schools and re-introduce skill acquisition form primary to secondary school.”

“Every child at the point of graduation from secondary school must learn at least one skill. We must be able to be self sufficient and we must start training our children in that direction”. He added.

Governor Sani Bello then called on highly placed leaders in institutions to contribute thier quota towards investing and developing the education sector of the country.

WhIle speaking on the forthcoming 2019 General election, Governor Sani Bello commended the people of the state for the support given to him in the last election and also solicited for more support in the coming election in order tho ensure the party’s victory at the national and state level.

Earlier, the Secretary to the State Government, Alh. Ibrahim Isah Ladan assured the people of the state as well as co- competitors of APC that the party is not going to buy votes and that the campaign would be issue based.

According to him, ” we are going to campaign on what the government at the federal, state and local levels have been able to achieve in the areas of education, agriculture, infrastructural development,healthcare delivery, empowerment and social intervention programs.”

He said that APC from today will go to the field through various stakeholders to mobilize, campaign, and sensitize Nigerlites on the need to vote the party.

The Director General of Governor Abubakar Sani-Bello campaign ornaization, Alh. Yusuf Liman the party and the Governor’ campaign organization were pleased with the silent but positive transformation going on in most sections of the economy of the state.

He stated that the administration has made tremendous achievements in driving the state out or he woes it found itself when it took over in May 2015. Adding that It is evidently clear that the restoration agenda of the administration is on course and has achieved alot to a large extent .

Also speaking, the State party chairman, Engr. Jibrin Imam said The aim of The event was to enable the Governor make known his achievements so far in office.
He then urged members of the party to go back to their various polling units to ensure APC wins at all levels.

Gen. Idris Garba, member, Board of Trustee assured the Governor of his support to enable him return to office in the forthcoming election and has commended the party at the state level for working so hard and never showed any sign of conflict between the government and the party.
